When asked what form of Japanese art is most highly regarded in the world, it would likely be ukiyo-e.
Among them, Hokusai’s painting of this wave is probably one of the most popular. The dynamic motion of the waves and the depiction of the white crests rushing forward never fail to capture people’s hearts. Hokusai remained an active artist until his death at the age of 90.
