Isemomen cotton is woven using high-quality pure cotton yarn produced in Japan, following a traditional method that has remained unchanged over time. Using looms from the Meiji era, each machine produces only one tan (about13 meters) per day. As the fabric is washed, the starch gradually fades and the fibers return to their natural cotton state, becoming softer over time. This gentle texture is the true charm of Isemomen cotton.
The textile designs are dyed using Kyoto’s traditional dyeing technique, Kyoto Stencil Yuzen dyeing. The process involves multiple steps such as stencil dyeing, steaming, and washing inspired by the Yuzen flowing technique. This method allows for delicate pattern expression, resulting in richly colored textile designs.
