This SOU・SOU textile design is inspired by Furuta Oribe, a disciple of Sen no Rikyu.
Since 2026, it has been officially adopted as the design of Oribe-dera Temple.
What is “Samue Worker Jacket”…
The samue jacket is a worker jacket that draws insipration from a person holding handle of a sword (takami).
・Katamikawari (Bi-color) means clothes with different patterns and colors on the right and left halves or parts. It is a design that has existed before Muromachi and was popular during the Momoyama period.
・Uses embossed processed Chizimi Cotton 20/10 made by Sakao Orimono.
[20/10 = fabric woven using 20 count warp and 10 count weft yarn]
(Compared to the Circulor washing processed fabric for summer, it is about 1.2 times thicker.)
(The higher the count number, the finer the yarn and the thinner the woven fabric is.)
・Dyed with Kyoto Stencil Yuzen dyeing.
・Tie strings at the waist.
・An elasic band is applied at the back of the waist to create a slim silhouette.
・Pockets on two sides.

※Due to the nature of hand-printing, slight screen displacement may occur but it is a feature of dyeing.
※Due to the nature of Kyoto Stencil Yuzen dyeing, patterns are created by repeatedly applying stencils onto plain fabric. As a result, slight seam lines known as “katakuchi” may appear where the stencil patterns connect.＞About "Katakuchi"
【About Chizimi Cotton】
・Produced in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, with a long history dating back to the Edo period. Strongly twisted weft yarn creates a distinctive crepe texture that feels cool and breathable.
・Because the textured surface reduces contact with the skin and allows moisture to evaporate easily, it is said to lower the perceived temperature by about 2°C.
・Excellent sweat absorption, quick-drying, breathability, moisture absorption, and moisture release properties.
・Takashima chizimi cotton, which has benefited from the natural resources of Lake Biwa, boasts the highest production in Japan.
【About Dyeing of Chizimi Cotton】
When dyeing Chizimi Cotton, color may not fully penetrate into the deeper crepe texture of the fabric.
※Products with the same color name may vary slightly in color due to different materials.
The embossed fabric used in this product has elasticity (rate: about 160%), making it easy to move in and comfortable to wear.

・Do not hand-wash. As the dehydration is weak, and the dye may start to dissolve in the water causing migration or bleeding.

・There is a risk of color transfer, so please use a neutral detergent, wash it, and then hang it to dry immediately in the shade.
・Please wash it separately from white or light-colored items, as it may fade.
・To make the crinkle texture stand out, please avoid using an iron.
・While wearing, color may transfer to other items due to friction, etc.
・Due to the nature of the fabric, it has a certain degree of stretchability. Please adjust the garment to its original shape immediately after washing without pulling on the stitches excessively.
